Sports for children offer health, psychological and social benefits

As you can see, all of our kids have participated in multiple sports. We believe that our children have gotten a lot out of the sports they have played and we have gained even more from the time we spent coaching and watching them.  According to the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports at Michigan State University, “Sports activities for children not only offer health but also offer psychological and social benefits”.

When you have multiple children, it can be hard to give each one of quality time.  With youth sports, your child gets to be the center of attention.  That hour during their game, they are the only thing you are paying attention to.  It becomes a great way to share moments with them, encourage them, and create memories.  Even when you have four kids, you now have a way to connect with each one of them individually.

Along with being able to show each one of them attention, it also teaches children life lessons.  They get structure from coaches and officials.  They learn why it is important to take turns and share, that there is nothing wrong with losing, and that there is a right/wrong way to win.  Sportsmanship is one of the most vital lessons that any child can learn from youth sports.

Along with gaining self-esteem, our kids are healthier because of youth sports.  Even though our kids are as into technology as any, they look forward to spending Saturday’s outside playing and exercising.  It is wonderful to see them running around instead of sitting in front of a computer or T.V.

These are the reasons why we are proud to see our Four Kids participate in youth sports.  We hope to see your children out there as well.
